The Good Wife spinoff is happening and there is a lot to be expected.

On Wednesday, TV Line posted details about the upcoming series starring Christine Baranski (Diane) and Cush Jumbo (Lucca). It is set to launch on CBS All Access sometime next spring and will begin one year following the finale.

The series is also going to have new characters with an evolving story.

"The quality of The Good Wife has always rivaled anything on television and we're excited to tell more stories with some of the brilliant characters [series creators] Robert and Michelle King created," President of CBS Television Studios David Stapf said.

Marc DeBevoise, Executive Vice President and General Manager of CBS Digital Media, gave details on the network and how fitting it will be for the anticipated spin-off.

"Our original programming strategy for CBS All Access is data-driven and focused on exclusive, premium content that will continue to expand the value of our service to subscribers," DeBevoise said. "The Good Wife is consistently one of our most-watched series across digital platforms, and this new series, with the incredible storytellers and marquee talent that have signed on, is a perfect addition to CBS All Access's premium original programming slate."

Meanwhile, Robert King previously spoke to Entertainment Weekly on how he would like the series to live on after the final episode aired earlier this month.

"I do think people will think of the show in terms of its multidimensional female characters," Robert said. "It might also be thought of as a gravestone of the 22-episodes-a-year paradigm. 22 a year is just too difficult, too backbreaking. But it would be nice if people thought of it in terms of its cynicism and its comedy; that's what we found most fun."
