Renard's day of playing hero are over. Grimm's Captain is ready to subscribe to Villain's Monthly once more.

The wesen uprising is gathering steam up in the Pacific Northwest, and, despite briefly playing buddy-buddy with the Scooby Gang earlier this year, Captain Renard (Sasha Roiz) decided to throw his lot in with Black Claw. For Roiz, a return to the dark side was long over due.

"I was asking our producers for a couple of years to make Renard bad again, or to at least break away from the group. It though it was nice that people didn't know what his allegiance was. It's more interesting when he's in the gray zone, [when] you never know enough about him," Roiz told fans at JIBLand in Rome. "I thought he was getting predictable, and I think predictable is bad. I felt like people were now anticipating that he would always be helping Nick, be helping the gang."

As far as Roiz is concerned, Black Claw and Hadrian's Wall would do well to take their feud to the next level.

"I don't want Black Claw to take over, but I think it would be great to see a full out war," Roiz teased.

Season 5 left Renard's allegiance up in the air, blood dripping from his sword as he stares agape at Bonaparte's corpse. When Grimm returns next fall, the Captain will still be caught in that final scene, only now he'll have to turn and face off with Nick (David Giuntoli). There's one sure fire way to get the detective (and Diana, for that matter) to hulk out, and that's to threaten his family.

"He's face to face with Renard, so this could go two ways," Giuntoli told TV Insider. "Will there be a negotiation? Will Nick think this through? Or is he so furious at Renard for taking his child away that he'll just go crazy?"
