Hawaii Five-0's Steve McGarrett is on the move...in a wheelchair!

It's hard to keep a man like McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) down, but his liver transplant will knock the former Navy SEAL out of the game as season 7 premieres. Picking up in the wake of the finale's fly by shooting, the opening hour will find the Five-0 leader convalescing at Tripler Army Medical Center.

In a quiet, contemplative moment, Steve might take the time to drop by the hospital chapel. Showrunner Peter Lenkov gave fans a sneak peek at the opening scene late last month:

It's unusual - and slightly disconcerting - to see McGarrett off his game. He's certainly been knocked around before, but his latest brush with death will have him on his back foot.

"He just starts to reflect on everything, the choices that he's made and looks for a reason to continue doing what he's doing," Lenkov told Entertainment Weekly. "That's going to play a little bit of a theme next year. McGarrett may be being a little more aware of his mortality, and also his legacy of what am I going to leave behind?"

Fans shouldn't worry too much, however. McGarrett's stoicism is so deeply ingrained that it would take more than a moment of introspection to change his ways.
