'Bloodline' News: What Episodes Did Kyle Chandler & Ben Mendelsohn Submit To The Emmys? [VIDEO]
The two Bloodline actors nominated at this year's Primetime Emmy Awards have submitted the same episode for consideration.
Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn, who play John and Danny Rayburn, respectively, on the Netflix drama, were nominated at the Emmys for the second consecutive year. While neither actor took home the trophy this year, there's a chance that at least one of them could this year.
As part of the Emmy voting process, Chandler and Mendelsohn have each submitted one episode for consideration to the Television Academy, with voters judging based on these episodes (and a few undeniable outside factors including buzz and popularity, of course). The submissions for both Chandler and Mendelssohn have been revealed, courtesy of awards predicting website Gold Derby.
Chandler and Mendelsohn both submitted "Part 23", a.k.a. the season 2 finale, according to Gold Derby. This is obviously a big episode for Chandler's character, with John having confrontations with his siblings, Meg (Linda Cardellini) and Kevin (Norbert Leo Butz) and coming very close to shooting Eric O'Bannon (Jamie McShane). The finale ends with John driving away from the Keys, haunted by his actions.
As for Mendelsohn, Danny does not exactly have a huge presence in the finale. However, there is a powerful moment with Danny's ghost appearing in John's car at the end, essentially to coax his brother into running away from everything.
Chandler and Mendelsohn do face stiff competition in both of their categories, ultimately. Chandler's other nominees in Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series include Rami Malek of Mr. Robot, Bob Odenkirk of Better Call Saul, Matthew Rhys of The Americans, Liev Schreiber of Ray Donovan and Kevin Spacey of House of Cards. Mendelsohn is competing against Jonathan Banks of Better Call Saul, Peter Dinklage and Kit Harington of Game of Thrones, Michael Kelly of House of Cards and Jon Voight of Ray Donovan.
The 2016 Primetime Emmys will air live Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on ABC.
