'Westworld' Season 2 Spoilers: Ford May Still Be Alive; Name Of Cast Members To Return Revealed [VIDEO]
HBO's sci-fi western thriller drama, Westworld, is set for a premiere of its second season. However, fans may have to wait longer as it was announced by the network that airing of the first episode of season 2 will be on 2018.
Nevertheless, several speculations and updates have been appearing online, regarding on what viewers may expect once the series returns. It has been reported that a lot of important revelations will be witnessed. One of which is the possibility of Robert Ford, portrayed by actor Anthony Hopkins, to still be alive.
According to a report from International Business Times, the second season of the series is meant to reveal what really happened to Ford. As per the source, this has been one of the many questions of the fans following the show, since it ended its first season on December last year.
Fans have reportedly been wondering if the character is supposed to be a bad guy or a good guy on the series. As recalled, Robert Ford chose to take his own life and made a sacrifice when he got Dolores Abernathy, portrayed by Evan Rachel Wood, to kill him. That was why fans have been thinking that Ford is not really a major threat with the rest of the characters in the show.
This also raised the possibility of him being alive because as viewers know, in Westworld, there are ways of getting the dead back to life. Some are repaired and sent back to the the fictional world. Fans may see Ford in the upcoming season again, but then, this remains a possibility.
Also looked forward by fans for the upcoming season will be the cast lineup, whether it will retain the old cast members or opt for new ones. According to Marie Claire, some of the old cast members have already confirmed their appearance for the second season, in which they will reprise their respective roles.
Actor Ed Harris, who portrays the character Man in Black was reportedly the first one to confirm for season 2. Another cast who confirmed was Evan Rachel Wood, on her role as Dolores, and even said that she's beyond excited to come back and film more episodes of the series. Other actors have not made an announcement but fans are positive that this will happen very soon this year.
Meanwhile, showrunner Jonathan Nolan told Variety the reason why they had to push back the premiere for a later date, "We won't be on the air until 2018."
"We started that conversation with the network when were shooting Episode 2 and we realized the complexity of trying to write and produce the show at the same time", Nolan said.
Westworld Season 2 is set to premiere on 2018 on HBO.
