'The Mentalist' Season 6 Spoilers: Patrick Jane Makes Fools Of The FBI, Van Pelt And Rigsby Departure Date Unknown VIDEO
The Mentalist is moving into uncharted territory and as the new and returning characters get shuffled around, those who know Patrick Jane best can have a laugh at the expense of their inexperienced counterparts.
After hiding out in a tropical paradise for two years, Jane (Simon Baker) has been brought back to the States by the FBI. Roped into a deal that doesn't quite follow his terms, the faux psychic will be solving crimes once more in lieu of heading to prison for the murder of Red John.

However, the humorless Agent Dennis Abbott (Rockmond Dunbar) and the mysterious Kim Fischer (Emily Swallow) don't quite know what they've gotten themselves into, something Cho (Tim Kang) is quick to warn the former CBI consultant.
A new extended promo for "Green Thumb" shows that Jane will be giving his new bosses the runaround on the very first day. By time Jane has adequately complained about his flight accommodations and prompted a SWAT raid on his breakfast, Fischer will irritably admit that Jane made fools out of the FBI while Cho tells her it defiantly won't be the only time.
Meanwhile, Lisbon (Robin Tunney) will console a flustered employee by explaining that even she still hasn't figured out Jane completely.
However, previews for "Green Thumb" don't dwell too much on Wayne Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) and Grace Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti). Although fans know the duo will be getting phased out, there has been no indication as to when their exit will take place.
"It keeps changing," Righetti told TV Guide of her departure form the CBS series. "It's been a little bit of a fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants season. I think it was sort of an unexpected turn for the writers too, to have the show kind of be reworked this season. So everybody's kind of trying to figure it out. And [they're] probably keeping it close to the vest so it comes as a surprise to everyone that is watching."
