Doctor Who's Clara Oswald is showing off her boyfriend this Christmas and he looks a lot like the Doctor himself.

Viewers get a look at the Oswald's holiday festivities in a new clip nestled into a multi-show promo from the BBC One. Standing in front of a food-laden table, Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman) introduces the Doctor (Matt Smith) to her family with the interesting addendum that he is, in fact, her current beau.

Don't expect the two to suddenly get all cuddly, however. Clara nearly chokes on her words as Eleven slaps her rear and it looks like the Time Lord's companion is merely passing off her friend as something more in an effort to explain his sudden appearance at her family's Christmas feast.

Meanwhile, as the sun sets on Matt Smith's tenure as the roaming Gallifreyan, his successor may add yet another character to the Doctor's roster of companions, according to Doctor Who TV.

There have been rumors that one of Clara's coworkers may hop in the TARDIS after Peter Capaldi takes the helm.

Remember that Coal Hill teacher that anxiously informed Clara of the Doctor's arrival at the beginning of "The Day of the Doctor?" Well, his name is Tom (Tristan Beint) and you very well may be seeing a lot more of him.

Confronted with Whovians speculation as to the extent of his involvement with Doctor Who, Beint took to his Twitter to tease fans with the possibility.

"Are you sure Tom could ever compete with a Time Lord though..? Oho... Keep watching," he tweeted in response to one fan's questions before stating that he knows nothing about the matter.

"Cripes, there seems to be a lot of conjecture and rumour going on re[garding] Tom & #DoctorWho, if any of it's true I'd love it but noones [sic] told me!" Beint wrote on Tuesday.

It looks as if viewers are just going to have to wait and see.

"The Time of the Doctor" will air on Dec. 25 at 7:30 p.m. GMT on BBC One.
