Crime isn't taking a break for the holidays on NCIS: Los Angeles.

Despite Kensi's (Daniela Ruah) absence, the Special Ops team will be investigating an attack on a senator's daughter during "Merry Evasion." Guest staring Michelle Trachtenberg as Senator Lockhart's (John Getz) daughter, Lilly, the episode will see Nell head back out into he field as Callen (Chris O'Donnell) and Co. try to find a link between the assailant and the Senator's hard-line stance on International Cyber Warfare.

Trachtenberg won't be sitting back on her heals, however. According to series creator Shane Brennan, the Gossip Girl star will be in the thick of the action.

"We're very excited to have Michelle guest on the show," Brennan told TV Line. "It's a very intense episode which pairs Michelle with Callen and Sam (played by Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J), in what is probably one of our biggest action shows so far this season."

Also popping up again will be CIA Officer Vostanik Sabatino (Erick Palladino). Last seen working the Siderov case in season 4's "Wanted," nothing good ever comes a long with this character.

However, fans may be excited to see Nell stepping out of the Ops Center a lot more while Kensi is overseas. Stills from next Tuesday's "Iron Curtain Rising" and "Merry Evasion" (see gallery above) show the Intelligence Analyst will be getting a chance to try out her moves in the field. Could she be a temporary partner for Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen)?

"You'll have to wait and see," teased executive producer John Peter Kousakis when a fan asked him that very question via Twitter. "Nell will definitely be more active during Kensi absence!"

Meanwhile, someone on the team will be lifting Kensi's glum holiday mood by sending her a special gift.
