'Dancing With the Stars' 2016: Jodie Sweetin & Von Miller Among Frontrunners To Win? [POLL]
Who has the best chance of winning the upcoming 22nd season of ABC's Dancing With the Stars?
The season 22 cast (and their assigned pros) of Dancing With the Stars has been announced as follows:
Mischa Barton and Artem Chigvintsev
Antonio Brown and Sharna Burgess
Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd
Kim Fields and Sasha Farber
Doug Flutie and Karina Smirnoff
Marla Maples and Tony Dovolani
Von Miller and Witney Carson
Wanya Morris and Lindsay Arnold
Geraldo Rivera and Edyta Śliwińska
Jodie Sweetin and Keo Motsepe
Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas
Ginger Zee and Val Chmerkovskiy
So who will emerge as the frontrunner and go on to win the season? There are a number of possibilities here, but some are more equipped to excel in the competition than others.
Athletes tend to do really well on Dancing With the Stars, with past winners like Shawn Johnson, Donald Driver, Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward and Kristi Yamaguchi. This suggests possible success for Brown, Flutie and Miller, who all have NFL experience and VanZant, who is a UFC fighter.
Past sitcom stars also have great success on DWTS, such as Alfonso Ribeiro, Mario Lopez and Candace Cameron Bure. If Fields and/or Sweetin are strong dancers, they could go very far in the competition based on their strong fanbases.
Older celebrities are usually among the first few eliminated from the competition, so stars like Flutie, Maples, Morris and Rivera may run into trouble if they don't exceed expectations. It's possible, though, that if one or two of them aren't very good but still charming to the audience then they'll make if further than expected.
The wildcards here are Barton, DiMarco and Zee. Barton is a former TV star but she's mostly been out of the spotlight. DiMarco won America's Next Top Model and is the dance competition's second ever deaf contestant. Zee has Good Morning America exposure, but does she have a strong enough fanbase?
