His father summoned him to his hospital room to ask one potentially final request before he headed back to prison, and now, Adam (Justin Hartley) will be forced to defend himself to the one person who has most encouraged him to not let Victor (Eric Braden) control him on The Young and the Restless.

Chelsea (Melissa Clare Egan) has been adamant that she wants Adam to stop living under his father's influence and threatened to leave him if he hadn't. That led to his resigning from Newman Enterprises and getting a new job elsewhere, and letting his sister Victoria (Amelia Heinle) take over the company as CEO after Victor was arrested. However, after Victor wound up in the hospital from a stab wound only one day after he was sentenced, he summoned Adam to his room and asked him to avenge him if he was murdered in prison.

Adam didn't exactly make the promise that he would, but he seems inclined towards doing it if he needs to, and when he arrives home and tells Chelsea he saw his father, she will immediately begin to worry about him being sucked back into Victor's web.

"What did Victor say? What did he promise you? Or worse, what did you agree to?" She asks him in a preview clip for the Thursday, April 7 episode.

"Can we talk about this later?" Adam asks.

"I want to talk about it now," Chelsea says.

When Adam then comes clean to Chelsea about what Victor requested, she will initially think it must be a joke, until she realizes he's considering it. And now, after her endless ultimatums about what he should or shouldn't do to save their marriage, she will tell him to do whatever he wants—and the process of pushing him away to possibly protect herself from having to deal with the drama ever again could officially begin.

The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
