They all helped put him behind bars for his unleashing Marco on Jack (Peter Bregman) and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni), but now, Victor's (Eric Braden) loved ones will learn just what kind of danger he's already been exposed to since he started his sentence on The Young and the Restless.

After telling Ian Ward (Ray Wise) he didn't want his protection in jail, Victor woke up to find himself the victim of a stabbing, and he is now in the hospital as a result. And now, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) will have to go see her husband and break the news to one of her sons, Nick (Joshua Morrow), who is already at the hospital with his wife, Sage (Kelly Sullivan), since the baby they've been trying to adopt was born prematurely.

"You don't know? Somebody tried to kill your father," Nikki says to him in a preview clip for the Tuesday, April 5 episode.

The news will be shocking, though it won't soften the feeling that he needs to still be in prison. However, it will motivate Nick to try and find a solution that still ensures Victor's safety while he serves his time.

However, even as he helps his father, there will be some devastating news for Nick and Sage about the baby they're trying to adopt, David. Shawn (Devon Martinez) went into premature labor, and watching her son has caused her to feel she still wants to have him in her life, even though she believed she couldn't properly take care of him. To try and find a compromise, Sage then suggested they change the adoption to an open one, so they could all play a role in raising David together.

However, Sage and Nick will be in for a big shock. After they go to see David and Shawn again, they will be stunned when they realize that they're both gone—and Shawn left behind a note saying she couldn't leave her son at all, but she also couldn't face them. Now, the two are back where they started, without a child.

The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
