As far as everyone has been concerned Andre (Thaao Penghlis) was the one who murdered his father Stefano and has been safely locked away in jail because of it, but now a new assailant has come forward with a confession that will startle everybody on Days of Our Lives.

Hope (Kristian Alfonso) was the one who actually killed Stefano, and Rafe (Galen Gering) helped her cover up the murder by hiding Stefano's body and setting Andre up to take the fall. Roman (Josh Charles) has also been behind the cover-up, letting Hope and Rafe off the hook when they confessed the truth to him and allowing Andre to go to jail in their place because of all the other evil he has committed. Now, when Monahan arrives at the police station and tells Roman and Rafe that he was the one who killed Stefano and he wants to confess, the two men who know it isn't true will do whatever it takes to try and prove the confession is false.

They need to be careful about how they handle the situation however, because they can't risk exposing that they know Monahan didn't do it because they helped Hope cover up her crime. However, if Monahan is able to provide evidence of his committing the crime, they may have no choice but to send him to jail because he seems like a likely culprit, and that would mean they would need to let Andre go free, which would be dangerous for them all, since he knows the truth about his father's murder and would likely try and seek revenge.

What they don't know yet though is that Andre's freedom is the goal behind Monahan's confession, which was set in place by Aiden (Daniel Cosgrove) since he is still controlled by Andre. In exchange for Andre not spilling the truth to Hope about when exactly Aiden backed out of the plan to kill her, in addition to Andre finding a way to eliminate Rafe as his romantic rival for Hope's heart, Aiden provided a way for him to be freed from jail for the crime he didn't commit. But what Aiden doesn't know is that he could have also set the stage for the woman he claims to love to take a massive fall as well.

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
