'Shadowhunters' Season 2: Are Izzy & Meliorn Ready To Split? Jade Hassouné Teases 'City Of Ash' Drama [VIDEO]
Shadowhunter's Meliorn is far from done with the world of the nephilim. Izzy extricated him from his last ill-fated run-in with the Clave, but season 2 will quickly throw Clary and Co. back into the world of the fairies.
The widely popular Freeform series will return this winter under the direction of Ed Decter, and the Mortal Instruments adaptation will move to cover the events of Cassandra Claire's City of Ashes. Although much of book 2 found it's way into season 1, viewers can still expect to see our heroes partner with Meliorn (Jade Hassouné) to dive into the knavish world of the Seelie Court.
"Of course I'll be back and now we can expect to get into the real storyline of the second book," Hassouné told My Fanbase. "Obviously there will be some changes, Simon wasn't a vampire yet when they all visited the Seelie Court in book 2. I think we'll see more of the Seelie Court and perhaps meet the Seelie Queen, and I'm hoping to see more Meliorn/Shadowhunter interaction, alliances and missions."
Since filming for the second season has yet to begin, Hassouné cautioned that he is merely basing his speculation off his knowledge of the books. The Shadowhunter writers currently have their noses to the grindstone, and the cast will learn their characters' fates later this summer.
As for Meliorn's love life, well, that's still up in the air. Fans are clamoring for Izzy (Emeraude Toubia) to pair off with Simon (Alberto Rosende), but the young vamp will have to bide his time - Meliorn and the Lightwood's daughter have yet to chart a course for Splitsville.
"I believe Meliorn truly cares about Isabelle and in season 1, Izzy shows that she too cares for him by creating a huge rescue mission, breaking the law for him," Hassouné explained while emphasizing that the couple is more concerned with swapping info than swapping spit. "At the end of season 1 we aren't too sure as to where their relationship is. It seems like it will continue for a little bit, we'll have to see what the writers are up to."
