'Young and the Restless' (Y&R) Spoilers: Adam Makes A Jaw-Dropping Decision About His Plea [VIDEO]
He was all set to be finally freed from prison for a crime he didn't commit, but his hunger strike and stress over his situation led him to assault a guard and fas new charges instead, but despite his eagerness to get home to his wife and son, Adam (Justin Hartley) will make a shocking decision about his fate on The Young and the Restless.
He had refused to eat for days, and began hallucinating that the guard who was trying to encourage him to eat and then tell him Chelsea (Melissa Clare Egan) was there and had good news was actually Victor (Eric Braden). Finally, believing Victor was there and taunting him with promises that life would go on without him and his family would all forget he was there, Adam lunged and began to attack the guard, and succeeded in knocking him unconscious before he was then restrained. Now, he is facing assault charges, and his innocence over Constance's death, which has now been confirmed with the real diary pages found, won't mean anything when it comes to his new trial.
Adding to the distressing situation, Adam doesn't remember the assault, and doesn't know what to make of what he did. However, he will understand that if he wants any chance of getting out he will have to admit he wasn't in the right frame of mind to a judge, and he will initially take Michael's (Christian Leblanc) advice on how to pleas for the crime.
"This is what you're going to tell them. Not Guilty by reason of Insanity," Michael says in a preview clip for the Monday, August 22 episode.
However, when he arrives at the courthouse for his arraignment and all hell breaks loose when Michael warns Victor to leave, Chelsea shows up with Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson), and they all learn that the guard has now slipped into a coma, Adam will have a flash of memory about the attack. And when he realizes he did in fact cause the guard harm, he will shock everybody when he instead enters a plea of guilty.
The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
