Fans were stunned to learn earlier this summer that Drake Hogestyn suffered a serious injury on the set of Days of Our Lives earlier this year which caused him to miss several months of filming, but it appears he's made a full recovery and has since returned to work.

New co head-writer Dena Higley took to social media earlier this week to announce that Hogestyn was back to work, which was great news for fans and others because there were concerns after the initial injury occurred.

"Drake is in studio today," Higley wrote on Twitter."Great that he's back."

Hogestyn's injury first occurred in May, and in July, it was revealed by his lawyers that he had been injured on set while filming a stunt which requires him to "break" through a prop door that had not been "properly repaired," Soap Central reported. Hogestyn reportedly smashed into the door head first and suffered severe head injuries as a result.

There hasn't been any word on if Hogestyn has planned to sue the show at all for what happened to him.

Thankfully for fans of the actor, his absence has not yet been felt on-screen due to the show's advanced taping schedule six months ahead of air dates. Episodes currently airing were likely taped back in April, meaning he would likely go off the air due to the injury in November, and wouldn't come back on-screen until late March or early April of next year.

There has also been no word on how Hogestyn's absence will be explained on the show, or if the absence will even be addressed.

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
