The news that Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) is on the loose has been clearly spooking Abigail (Kate Mansi) in serious amounts, and now, in an effort to restore his wife's feeling of well-being, Chad (Billy Flynn) will come up with a plan to make sure Ben can't bother them any longer on Days of Our Lives.

The history the three share is a harsh one, as Ben was engaged to Abigail and thought he was the father of her baby, despite the fact that she had slept with Chad and it was clear she still had feelings for him. To get him out of Abigail's life, Ben became the Necktie Killer and set Chad up to look like the one who was committing the murders, but when Abigail figured out the truth, he kidnapped her and locked her away in a cabin. After she gave birth to the baby and Chad came to try and rescue her, Ben tied them together on a bed, took the baby, and set the cabin on fire. They managed to escape, and Ben was apprehended before he got far enough away, but his apparent mental breakdown led to his being placed in a hospital over jail—and he recently managed to escape.

Abigail's worry and fears over the news caused her to initially see Ben outside the mansion before her wedding to Chad could truly begin, though it was later determined he had never been there. The ceremony then went off without a hitch, though she did believe she saw him again. That led to the decision for the family to temporarily relocate to Chicago for the honeymoon. However, while in bed one night, Abigail once again believed she saw Ben, this time, in bed with her.

Knowing that her fears will drive her crazy, Chad will want to do whatever it takes to ensure Abigail remains safe and free from any danger Ben could represent. And though he still partly believes Ben is not hanging around them, he will decide to take action in case he does—and his mysterious plan will officially be put into place.
