The day has come that determines Victor Newman's (Eric Braden) fate and all of Genoa City will be in attendance at his trial for orchestrating Jack's (Peter Bergmann) kidnapping and Phyllis' (Gina Tognoni) rape at the hands of Marco on The Young and the Restless.

The trial is set to begin, with Victor's own family members mostly testifying against him after they were the ones who turned him in for the crime. However, Victor knew ahead of time that he could still find some way to have the upper hand and avoid trial all together, through his son, Adam (Justin Hartley), who still, despite his claims he no longer has interest in being a part of Newman Enterprises, does want to be in charge of the company. When he went to encourage his father to just plead guilty to his crimes to avoid the humiliation Phyllis was seeking through his conviction, Victor threw his son a curveball he knew he couldn't refuse: the CEO position in the company for his guilty plea.

Now, as Adam tries to decide what he will do, Victor will be assured that he will choose in his favor, and will even tell Michael (Christian LeBlanc) that he expects a trial will no longer be necessary.

"Well, there may not be a trial you know," he says in a preview clip for the Thursday, March 24 episode. "My fate may already be settled."

However, Adam will run the offer past his family to see what they all think about it before making a decision, and after they all bring up strong reasons to object, he will choose against it, and the case will officially head to court.

Luckily for Victor, though, at least one Newman is still on his side—his granddaughter, Summer (Hunter King). Though her decision to testify in Victor's favor is something that she feels is the right thing to do, one person will strongly disagree with her—her mother.

"I am your mother! How could you betray me like this?" Phyllis asks in the clip.

The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
